Perimeter Security Systems
Perimeter Security Systems are slightly more complex and extensive alarm systems, which protect a much larger area and are able to provide “Defence in Depth”. The protected perimeter is typically defined and surrounded by a wall or fence. There is at least one gate for authorised persons and vehicles to enter and exit. Perimeter security systems rely on the combination of one or more technologies, are installed on or close to a wall or fence, (always within the exterior boundary of the perimeter), and usually use CCTV for visual confirmation of alarms. The various perimeter security system sensors can be installed in one or more layers, thus ensuring “Defence in Depth”. The Control Centre is usually located within the protected area and is equipped with a PC, its accessories and the appropriate alarm management software to process alarms and provide instructions to the operator. Known perimeter security system technologies include: Barrier sensors, volumetric sensors, fence-mounted sensors and video motion detection sensors.
